SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
At #CambridgeRibfest we value our community. We know it might not be the reason you come, but giving back and being as socially responsible as we can is just the right thing to do.
We’ve implemented several programs over the history of the festival to support and give back to our community.
We collect for Rotary Cambridge Sunrise at the gate in lieu of admission. Rotary may also collect at the parking lots, 50/50 draws and other fundraising. 100% of all funds collected go directly to Rotary Cambridge Sunrise. In 2025, $14,417.85 was raised! Thank you Cambridge.
In 2016, #KWRibfest, implemented a Green Waste initiative to reduce our waste while increasing our waste diversion through recycling and composting. We will be doing the same in #CambridgeRibfest with the goal to divert 90% of all waste by 2027. Help us to continue to reduce waste and Go Green.
This FREE Bike Valet area is operated by Grand River Cycles and allows you to leave your bike in a safe and secure area while you enjoy #CambridgeRibfest. Bike Valet will be located beside the event space for easy access.
Remember, it is illegal to drink and bike, so please bike responsibly.
Hydration Station. As part of #CambridgeRibfest efforts to reduce waste, we are partnering with The Water Tap to provide safe, filtered drinking water at no charge to you. So, bring your reusable water bottle and fill it often to stay hydrated.
#KWRibfest has been partnering with the UW Men's Rugby team since 2015 and they will also be supporting #CambridgeRibfest this year. The team provides much needed event staff support, and in exchange, #CambridgeRibfest provides a financial donation to support the teams travel budget. A win win.
#CambridgeRibfest is partnering with the Cambridge Red Hawks team. The team provides much needed event staff support, specifically for our Green Team program, and in exchange, #CambridgeRibfest provides a financial donation to support the teams budget. A win win.
In 2019, #CambridgeRibfest, invested in new tokens, called "Ocean Tokens", made from recycled discarded fishing nets. That's why they have this specific green color. One more small step to helping the environment.
In 2023, #CambridgeRibfest, invested in a new type of cup, EcoCup. It's reuseable and recyclable. And, if you don't want to keep it, we'll take it back and repurpose it to keep it out of landfil.
#CambridgeRibfest is a proud member of Sustainable Waterloo Region (SWR), a social enterprise nonprofit that’s committed to helping the local business community, and Waterloo Region as a whole, become environmentally and economically sustainable and strong.
